I have been using Ubuntu LTS versions are many years after abandoning CentOS and Fedora.  Soon Ubuntu 26.04 will be released (April 23, 2026).  I usually wait till the 26.04.1 is released.  Let someone else work out the bugs.  I have been watching videos on Linus Torvalds.  He uses Fedora.  Ubuntu is known for being stable.  Fedora is cutting edge.   I don’t use GUI based Linux.  Everything I have is server CLI based.   I don’t mind working on the command line.  As you go through by pages, you will see CLI based commands.   Even in the Ubuntu setup, I will switch from automatic DHCP to manually addressing IPv4.   IPv6 uses the mac address and FFFE EUI-64 format for addressing.

Why Ubuntu over CentOS or Fedora?

Ubuntu LTS are long supported releases.  Supported till May 2029.   With Ubuntu Pro support is April 2034 on break/fix.  The community is huge.  So finding solutions to issues is much easier.   I am in no rush in upgrading to the new LTS version.  In the past, I waited over 2 years.   Kernel 6.8 is stable for my HP Z840 workstation.
